This piece of Laburnum is much darker than usual & has a fabulous grain to it. The lighter pieces on opposite sides are the sap wood and each is then edged with the bark giving a striking contrast against the dark heart wood. It is unusual to get Laburnum of this or larger diameters as these trees tend to rot from the inside out.

This shallow dish would make a lovely statement piece for a sideboard or dining table. Being hand finished with a natural wax polish it wouldn't be suitable for anything that may be wet as this would damage and mark the finish.
