Large Yew bowl

Sale Price:£76.00 Original Price:£95.00
sold out

Several years ago I was lucky enough to get hold of a quantity of Yew from a small saw mill sited next to the Arboretum just outside Masham, North Yorkshire. This bowl is from that Yew. It has been drying for a number of years and would now appear to be ready to turn.

The grain and colour of this piece is absolutely fabulous. Yew tends to grow as a multy stemmed tree with the stems eventually merging to form the trunk. As a result often, when cut there are hidden pieces of bark which substantially reduce the use of the wood and it’s strength. This makes this piece of Yew quite unusual.

It has been hand turned, sanded, sealed and finished using a natural wax Polish to give a lovely smooth finish.

Approx. 9.5” diam. x 3.5” high.

*Suitable for dry goods only.
