This piece of brown oak burr had everything going for it - colour, grain, spalting and the contrast between sap and heartwood. Rather than turning a small bowl from it I decided to do something a bit different and the result was a lovely, free standing sculptural piece. It could have been modified to hang on a wall but the purchaser chose to enjoy is as a fre standing sculptural piece.

The piece was finished to a high gloss on the front and a silk finish on the remaining smooth surfaces. The whole piece was sealed using a natural wax polish.
